So here's das spiel. This thread will deal with our user's basic conversations and nerd-debates about video games. The reason being for this thread? To keep video games from clogging up the pipes everywhere else!

I suppose if there is a discussion about a specific series, then another thread could be made for that series and/or individual game. Besides, remember the Zelda Theory; games are more fun when they're discussed and played with friends!

To kick it off! I'll restate some information about my gaming interests.

Series I adore are mainly strategic RPGs and shooters, mostly of the Nintendo flavor simply because of low-cost.
Pokemon, Zelda, Star Fox 64, Metroid are all great ones. I also love Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Kingdom Hearts, Disgaea, Call of Duty, Gears of War, Resident Evil, Dead Space, Silent Hill and... Animal Crossing! ^^

And I've also had endless thoughs how cool it would be if Game Freak and Genus Sonority got together and made a full 3D game that was like Pokemon crossed with Nintendogs+Cats. 'Cept you'd still battle and everything.

Okay, your turn! Feel free to post your interests, and even comment on mine and debate things! Cheers!

Pokemon is a good game, though I preferred the "classic" R/B/Y G/S/C formula the most, and all the new stuff added each gen just confuses me more, so a whole "lawl, pokespa" game would probably bother me...

Gears is a good game. My brother and best friend adore it. I'm not very good at it most of the time, but I'll jump in and snipe in Horde mode every so often.

Animal Crossing is an adorable, quirky sort of game. I know it turns a lot of people off with the simple gameplay, cutesy graphics, and near-complete lack of violence, but I'm quite fond of it.

I love my copy of Oblivion to bits, and can't wait for Skyrim to ship. o 3o

For me, my most fond memories of the Pokemon series comes from the R/S/E days. All the creatures there had this interesting spark to them. Kanto and Jhoto were amazing, but their selection felt a bit too plain and simple. Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald gave a great degree of variety and just the right dose of complexity to the characters and designs. After that generation though, things started a slow decline. Gen IV was okay, but I was pretty disappointed in Black and White. Still fun though, but to this day almost all my Pokemon in my usual team are from R/S/E and below. (Luxray is my one exception. > 3<)

Gears of War is amazing in co-op, even though it is difficult. As mindless as it may seem with all the violent ways to kill things and chainsaws on assault rifles, it actually has a great narrative and backstory, and the COG Tags and other collectables help flesh out the world of Sera even more.

And Animal Crossing, such a sweet little series. Honestly gaming would get a bit boring and monotomous if all I did was hack, slash, and blast things. It's so charming and cute and a good way to escape into your own little miniature garden. :3

Ggh, Elder Scrolls. I don't know if it was just my experiences with Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, but I'm not too fond of the series. I could never figure out where to go or what to do, gaining experience was weird, there were soooo many stats to track... And worst of all, I'd get going, get lost, find a cave full of ghosts, then die twice trying to escape, leave said cave, and never find my way back. Granted, I was still a kid at the time on a crappy computer and I never had anyone to help me out, so maybe I'm not being fair.

Crystal has always been my favorite pokemon version, so I was thrilled stupid to get my hands on the SoulSilver remake. Didn't care for Pokathalon much, the old RSE contests were better. And what the crap Card Flip? No. BAD GameFreak. Give me back my slots game KTHX.

I like trying to identify the little bits that go everywhere. Then I get distracted kicking someone's head around. Then I get dead...

Yus. It gets a little repetitive after a while, so I tend to keep saving, changing to the next day, play for a while, repeat. I'll go through anywhere between a week or a month in on sitting. But I get my house paid off quickly.

Honestly, I think the most fun part of Oblivion for me was having a huge, open, nearly endless world to just screw around in. I completely ignored the main story line for the first few months after I got the game. xD Plus, it doesn't hurt to go into the game settings and change the difficulty level to "imawuss" mode. I got tired of being killed by rats and mudcrabs, don't judge me.

I was just as thrilled for HGSS, I had never really gotten to experience Jhoto before that. Biggest mistake of my life: Picking Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 for Gameboy over Pokemon Crystal on my birthday shopping. Sad

Voltorb Flip p****s me off. I can see why they did it, but geez, talk about disappointing. I never liked minesweeper before, and making it even more agonizing with prizes on the line... BAD GameFreak!!

Maybe I'll give Skyrim a go one day, if I ever get a new 360. I'll need some help at first though, so don't be surprised to see me requesting assistance here. xD

Oh? I started on Yellow Version myself. Then Silver and Crystal. I didn't bother getting any of the new versions until SS came out.

Yeeeah, screw that. I'll transfer up my porygon from Yellow and Blue to Crystal, then to a borrowed R/S/E, then up to my SS, and when I've finished that 'dex, to my new White Version.

I think they're making it for the PS3 too. That's what they did with Oblivion.

The biggest reason people don't like R/S/E is because there IS NO WAY to transer Pokemon from G/S/C to R/S/E. The hardware between the two systems were so different that it would have been impossible to transfer. Not to mention all the glitch Pokemon in those older games.

I honestly don't think it's fair to R/S/E's reputation, because of technical issues, but whatever.

Also, there is a man in Veilstone City in Platinum who will give you a Porygon. If you need help getting one, I'll get you one.

I officially don't care for PS3 anymore. PSN is down AGAIN!!

Then I'll use that LeafGreen I've got lying around.

I've got a Porygon in my SS. Traded for it on Gaia Forums. Got a lot of 'em on Gaia Forums, actually.

My PS3's bee fried for ages. It's one of the old, Backwards Compatible ones, I got it pre-owned. The fan died so it couldn't cool itself down anymore, so it overheated and melted some of the circuits on the main board. Need to send it in to be fixed, but all I really ever played it for was Mercenaries2 and Overlord, which are both on the 360.
I love my 'box. It's and Elite I also got pre-owned. It red-ringed once, on new-year's eve, after a particularly long Oblivion marathon. I let it sit overnight, and it started up the next morning no problem, and has run perfectly ever since.
ZomBox, woopwoop!

So... Why did you need a Porygon again? xD;

I'm actually kinda glad Sony sucks so much when it comes to these things. At least now I know who I can and can't trust in the gaming market. Microsoft and Ninty forever. :D

I was having the same issue. My only regret would be if Kingdom Hearts III comes out of nowhere exclusively for PS3. That would... GAWD, I'd be so mad. I already missed out on MGS4.

Because there's no casino in Black and White version.

I've always liked the Playstation systems, since our first "modern" game system was the PS1. Then got a PS2, which I loved because it played all my favorite PS1 games too.
Not keeping backwards compatibility in the new gen was a pretty serious mistake. They just don't have the system exclusive library for the 3 to warrant spending $300 on a brand new one...

Aluzander

Hehe, okay. I'm confused.

I liked the older Playstations as well. PS2 was the best of it's time. But PS3 was a disappointment... It would have been amazing if it didn't kill itself out the gate with that rediculous price tag.
And the lack of backwards compatability was the biggest mistake. For that price, you'd have thought they'd give us something so basic.

Recently I've gotten my hands on a brand new 3DS. I don't even have a game for it, and yet I'm still enthralled with it after over 10 days. It's applications are fun and you actually want to use them, Pokedex 3D is an extremely useful tool that's fun to fill up.

Face Raiders, hehe, that game is so fun. Especially considering I'm still in high school, I have all sorts of people to chuck tennis balls at. xD

I can't wait til the 20th. I get paid, and I'ma get m'self Ocarina 3D and relish in my childhood. >w<

Our ps3 is dead. Bro took the PS2 to college. So I'm left with the 1, my 360, gamecube, wii, gbc, gba, and DS.
But I've been busy with work lately. Not much time for gaming, or anything else really.
Been playing a Cracked Minecraft, gonna' try to get my claws on $20 to buy it legit. Keep me from freaking out until next month.
